Forth Valley College
Civil and Structural Engineers providing information for the Forth Valley College Full Business Case. Sites at Stirling, Alloa and Falkirk were included in the study.
Struer were appointed to obtain all engineering information for each of the three sites. Topography, ground conditions, flooding, vehicular access and underground drainage were all considered in detail. Both the Stirling and Alloa sites were new build projects. The Falkirk site considered both new build and redevelopment/refurbishment of the existing site. The refurbishment option involved a structural survey of the existing College building. The Civil and Structural information was fed into the final Business Case document and Risk Register.
The main challenge was to identify all engineering constraints for each site in a short time frame. Some of the engineering issues had a significant impact on cost and the development layout proposals
BENEFITS TO CLIENT:
Struer were able to obtain engineering information very quickly for each site. Once the key engineering issues had been established the final cost plan, supplemented with the risk register, provided the client with a robust Business Case resulting in successful funding and progress to the detailed design stage.
