Affordable housing development for East Ayrshire Council, comprising 32 dwellings, ranging from bungalows to three storey townhouses. The contract also included the associated roads and drainage infrastructure.
The structural form was timber frame on reinforced concrete strip foundations.
As civil and structural engineering consultants Struer were responsible for the design of the dwelling houses and the infrastructure works which included preparation of information for Road Construction Consent and Scottish Water approval.
The main challenge involved securing Scottish Water and Roads Authority approvals. The new adopted roads required to be drained via SUDS and therefore both parties had to agree to the technical details and to the elements that would be responsible for maintaining going forward.
