DESCRIPTION:

New seven storey office building.  This project involved the demolition of the former STV Studios and the construction of a new office building with a basement level car park.

INVOLVEMENT:

Civil and structural design including underground drainage.  The structural form is steel framed superstructure on piled foundations.  The floors are insitu concrete composite construction with deep cellbeams to allow integration with services.

CHALLENGES:

The design was complicated by city centre constraints such as existing buildings and utilities.  Underground drainage required to be redesigned quickly on a number of occasions due to the presence of unrecorded (or inaccurately recorded) utilities.

BENEFITS TO CLIENT:

The building provides the highest quality workspace and is leased by a single user, Tesco Banks plc.
