DESCRIPTION:
Refurbishment of a Grade B listed building undertaken in two phases. The first phase which was completed October 2014 comprised the removal of the existing Cosmos Café and the construction of the new 60 seat cinema within the footprint. Phase 2 which is in the early design stages involves the refurbishment of the lobby area and back of house accommodation.
INVOLVEMENT:
Struer were appointed structural engineers to provide the structural design for the project which comprised underpinning existing walls, substructure and dealing with unforeseen existing structural arrangements.
CHALLENGES:
Archive information not being consistent with what was found on site once areas opened up and providing a workable solution which did not compromise the architectural aspirations.
