JOHNSTONE TOWN HALL
Construction of a new Town Hall which is home to a range of modern community facilities including Johnstone library, a theatre space, ceremony suites, conference centre space and meeting spaces. The building also includes Police Scotland, Macmillan Cancer Support and a cluster of council services under one roof.
Civil and structural design included the design of the steel frame and reinforced concrete pad foundations and the tension wire grid above the theatre space. Involved in the complex coordination of the different cladding systemss.
The differing requirements of the various spaces required close coordination with the client, design team and contractor. Construction of the basement and retaining walls was complex due to the congestion of underground services to rear.
BENEFITS TO CLIENT:
A superb building with all the community services under one roof. The building was winner of the Scottish Property Awards: Development of the Year (Public Buildings) 2015 and more recently was given the top honour of Project of the Year 2016.
